Zoom vs Google Meet vs Microsoft Teams: video-call pricing, once you stop comparing them alone

Published Pricing verified

The trick with this comparison is that you almost never buy any of the three "alone." Google Meet doesn't have a standalone price — you get it by buying Google Workspace, where it's effectively $7/user/month bundled into Business Starter. Teams is nearly the same story: Microsoft 365 Business Basic is $7/user, Teams Essentials on its own is $4 but comes with real limitations. Zoom is the one genuine standalone product here, and it shows in the price: Pro runs about $14/user/month and still caps meetings at 100 participants — you need Business, roughly $18, to get to 300.

So the real question usually isn't "which video app is cheapest," it's "which productivity suite do we already pay for, because that decides our video app by default."

Effective price/userHow you actually buy it
Microsoft Teamsfrom $4 (Essentials) / $7 (bundled)standalone or in M365
Google Meet~$7, bundledonly via Workspace
Zoom$14–18standalone product

Microsoft raised prices across most M365 business tiers on July 1, 2026, so if you're comparing against an older quote or a blog post from last year, the Teams numbers you're seeing are probably stale.

If your team already runs Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, paying an extra $14–18/user for standalone Zoom on top is money spent on a feature you likely already have — the incremental value has to come from something specific: Zoom's webinar tooling, its breakout-room polish, or organizational habit that's expensive to change. If you're choosing a suite from scratch and video quality is the deciding factor, that's a real reason to pick Zoom as your default and build the rest of your stack around it — just go in knowing you're paying for a fourth tool, not consolidating into one.
